  • What is ratio? Updated
The ratio represents the relationship between data uploaded and data downloaded. TorrentBD mandates a minimum share ratio of 0.50 or 50%. Which means if someone downloads 10 GiB of data, they have to seed back at least 5 GiB to avoid ratio restrictions.
  • How can I improve my ratio? Updated
Seed the torrents you download. When you seed, if someone downloads from you, it will get counted as upload data. By seeding you also earn seedbonus points which you can redeem for upload data.

▶ Download popular freeleech torrents with lots of leechers. Your download data will not get counted but upload will, resulting in ratio boost!

▶ Get a Public(Real) IP connection so that your NAT is open and everyone can connect and fetch data from you.

Upload new torrents. By seeding your uploaded torrents you will gain upload data when someone downloads it from you. You also gain seedbonus points when users gift it on your uploaded torrents.

▶ Browse through the request section & try to fill requests which has bounty offered.

▶ Besides, you may also contribute & be part of our progress. Click here to learn more.
  • What is seeding & how can I seed? Updated
A user who has downloaded a torrent and is letting others download it from them as well is a seed.

To become a seeder, keep your torrent client running after completing a download and do not stop/remove the torrent. Also perform actions like rename/move from within the client so that the files remain accessible.
When someone downloads data from you, you will get upload data added to your account.

To avoid getting an H&R flag you have to seed torrents and complete the minimum seed time requirement.
  • What is seedbonus and how to get them? Updated
Seedbonus is the virtual currency of this site. You can get seedbonus points by seeding torrents.
There are other ways as well. Visit the seedbonus shop and click on "How it works" to learn more.
  • Why is my download stalled/getting poor speeds?
▶ First make sure the torrent has active seeders, since without seeders your download will not start.

▶ For torrents without active seeders, you may request for a re-seed or post a request for a new upload with bounty.

▶ In the torrent page, look for connectable percentage bar. If there are no connectable peers available, you can request for one in the forum or get yourself a public(real) IP from your ISP(Internet service provider).

▶ If all downloads are getting stalled despite having seeders, your tracker may not be working. Please check this for further info.

▶ The connected seeder may not have BDIX, limiting your download to regular package speed. However, if you are getting regular package speed in highly seeded torrents, your ISP may have limited your BDIX speed or may not provide additional BDIX bandwidth. Please contact them regarding that matter.

▶ If you have a Public(Real) IP connection, wait at least 15 mins for shared IP peers to connect with you. Also make sure your NAT status is green. If it's not then there might be some issue with your UPnP/Firewall/Port-forwarding configuration.
  • Why am I getting poor upload speeds?
▶ At first check for Leechers/peers count on the torrents you are seeding ("L" stands for leechers/downloaders). If it's zero, then no one is downloading those right now.

▶ You are seeding old torrents which have a lot of active seeders. Seeders get the bulk of the upload credit in the first hour of the torrent upload. So it's highly unlikely you'll get any upload in such cases.

▶ You have a shared IP and there are no real IP leechers in the swarm!

▶ If you have a real IP, make sure your NAT status is green. If it's not then there might be some issue with your UPnP/Firewall/Port-forwarding configuration.

Torrent Client & Stats

  • Why my tracker isn't working/Stats not updating?
At first check the tracker status/message from your torrent client's tracker tab.

If it says "Not Working" then check the "Message" column. If it says certificate verify failed or skipping tracker announce(unreachable), then go to qBittorrent options(Alt+O) > Advanced > Disable the "Validate HTTPs tracker certificate" option > Apply and restart qBt.

If this does not fix your issue, then again go to qBittorrent options(Alt+O) > Connections > Tick the "Use different port on each startup" option.
If that option is not there, set the Port used for incoming connection to "0" (zero) and restart qBt.

Disable any 3rd party antivirus/firewall. Make sure to disable the firewall component completely. Also try disabling windows firewall.

If none of these work then use a VPN. If it works fine with the VPN then your ISP may have blocked our tracker. Contact with them to resolve the issue.
  • How to fix I/O error in qBittorrent?
I/O errors can happen due to various reasons. Read below to fix the problem.

    1. Close any running apps that may be scanning files (i.e- Spotify, Windows Media Player, Antivirus etc).

    2. Check if your download location has adequate free space. If not, free up some space and force recheck the torrent.

    3. Windows has a 260 character limit in the file path. If your download path is longer than that, you'll get I/O errors.
Select the base/root directory of any drive as your download location. For example, choose D:/ or E:/ paths.

    4. You're downloading to an external HDD or USB device or a network share. Try downloading to your internal HDD.

    5. You do not have adequate write permissions. Run qBittorrent as administrator.

    6. Your disk may be failing. Check your HDD health status.
  • I'm getting only 10 KiB/s speed in qBittorrent. How do I fix that?
Most likely you have enabled alternative speed limit in qBittorrent client. Just left click on the speedometer icon once and that should fix your issue. If you can't find the speedometer, right click on the qBittorrent icon in taskbar and untick the Alternative Speed Limits option.
  • How to optimise qBittorrent?
Open qBittorrent and press Alt+O to open Options menu.

Change the options as shown in screenshots below.

Click on "Apply" / "Ok" to save your settings & close qBittorrent by pressing Ctrl+Q.

Start qBittorrent for the changes to take effect!
  • How to backup/restore qBittorrent?
    Backup Process:

Press windows logo key+R and type %localappdata%\qBittorrent in the run command box and hit enter.

Again repeat the same process but this time type %appdata%\qBittorrent and hit enter.

Now you should have two qBittorrent folders open.

Select and copy everything from these two folders to new separate folders on a partition/drive other than C:

Also note down your drive letters(D: , E:, F: etc.) on which you've kept your seeding files.

    Restore Process:

After reinstalling windows, first confirm that your drive letters (D: E: F: etc) haven't changed.
If they changed then correct them through diskmgmt.msc or any other partitioning tool.

Install qBittorrent once your drive letters have been sorted out.

After installing, run qBittorrent at least once and then close by pressing Ctrl+Q.
Confirm using task manager that the process has ended.

Follow the previous steps again to open %localappdata%\qBittorrent folder.

Delete everything from that folder and copy everything from the backup we kept earlier for that folder.

Repeat same process for %appdata%\qbittorrent folder too.

Once done, open qBittorrent and it should detect all your torrents.
  • What does NAT Status mean? New
The NAT status column denotes your torrent client's port status:

▶ Green circle indicates Open NAT/Open port/Real IP.

Please note: This does not guarantee that you have a real IP. You could be using a port which is being used by your ISP gateway.
To confirm whether you have a real IP, use the method mentioned here.

▶ Grey circle indicates Strict NAT/Closed port.

This usually means you're either a shared IP user or you didn't forward your ports in the router.
If you're a shared IP user then there's nothing you can do to make it Green/Open.
However if you took a Real IP connection from your ISP, then please do manual port forwarding on your router.

▶ Empty circle indicates the NAT status is yet to be determined. Check back later.

Sometimes you may see outdated NAT status even after forwarding your port properly.
If you want your NAT status to be rechecked, visit the tracker status page and click on the recheck button.
  • What does the connectable percentage in a torrent mean? New
It portrays the percentage of peers in the swarm with open NAT (real IP/Open port).

If you do not have a real IP connection, please check the connectable percentage of a torrent to determine if you can successfully download that torrent.

If there is not enough connectable seeders, you may ask in the real IP forum for seeds.
  • What is Public(Real) IP?
Please click here to learn about real IP and its importance in torrenting.
  • What formula is used for average seedtime?
Average seedtime is calculated by dividing the coalesced seed time of all torrents ever added to the client for download/upload divided by the number of torrents ever added to the client.

It will increase if you keep seeding a large number of torrents for a long time. It will decrease if you download or upload a torrent and do not seed for long.
  • How can I migrate torrents from uTorrent/BitTorrent to qBittorrent?
Install and open qBittorrent at least once.
Make sure to close qBittorrent by pressing Ctrl+Q.

Download the latest version of the migration tool for your platform(i.e bt2qbt_v1.18_amd64.exe for 64 bit Windows).

    uTorrent users:
Run the downloaded file & hit enter.

    Bittorrent users:
Navigate to your Downloads folder where the executable is located.
Open the context menu and click on Open in terminal/Open Powershell window here.
Then run this command: .\bt2qbt_v1.18_amd64.exe -s "%APPDATA%\\BitTorrent\\" and hit enter when it asks.
Make sure to replace the executable name with your version. Your command should look like this:

For both uTorrent and BitTorrent users:
Upon success, it will say "Successfully imported torrent."

Afterwards close the migration tool and open qBittorrent.
    Select all torrents(Ctrl+A) > Right-click > Force recheck.

It may take some time depending on the number and size of the torrents.
Once done, select all torrents again and click on the resume button.

That's it! Now your torrents should be seeding in QBittorrent.

Freeleech & H&R

  • What is freeleech?
Torrents with a spinning gold coin like this are freeleech contents.
This includes >=10 GiB and or Internal release torrents.

If you download freeleech torrents your download will not be counted but upload will!
So downloading freeleech torrent will have no negative effect on your total ratio!
  • What is FL(Freeleech) token? New
FL(Freeleech) token allows you to initiate a sitewide personal freeleech for 24 hours.
After activation, none of your download will get counted. However, you'll not see any spinning gold coins beside torrents.
After activation, allow at least 5 mins before starting download.
  • What is H&R/Seed to go?
When you download something, we expect you to seed it back and help others.
So you must seed a torrent for a minimum of the required time period.

    Required seeding time:

At least 48 hours(12 hours if you have met the 1:1 criteria: upload the same amount as the size of the torrent)

You don't have to seed continuously. But if you stop seeding before completing the required seed time,
    you'll receive an H&R flag.

If the concurrent H&R of a user reaches 15, he will not be able to download any new torrent.
In order to download again he must clear/neutralise the flags.
  • How to clear H&R flags?
Just resume the torrents/start your torrent client. Once you resume seeding H&R flags will be neutralized.

If you've removed the torrent(s) from your client but still have the files then just re-download the .torrent from here.
If the client asks for save location, select the root folder where the file or folder is located and not the torrent folder itself.
Once added, your client should start a recheck of the files and start seeding automatically.
However, if it starts downloading again, then you've chosen the wrong directory!

If you have deleted the files as well, re-download them and seed.
If for some reason the torrent can't be downloaded then you can zap the flag using seedbonus points.
However, with each zap the "Zap cost" will increase by 50%. So this option is highly discouraged.

You can also clear them using H&R Coupons. Coupons can be used without any penalties.
Coupons are distributed at the start of each month according to user class.
It can also be gained through contribution.
  • Does H&R apply to freeleech torrents?
Regardless of freeleech status, all torrents must be seeded to fulfill the seedtime requirement. Otherwise, you will receive an H&R flag.

Please open a support ticket to learn more about your restrictions.

Uploading, Re-seeding & Torrent Approval

  • Where can I find the upload rules?
Please click here to read the upload rules before uploading any torrent on our site.

Additionally, any content(s) which violates the copyright law(s) of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ) are not allowed.
Such contents will be removed from the index of this site and the uploader penalized for their action!
  • How do I re-seed something or start seeding after uploading?
First, download the .torrent file and open it with your client.

When the client asks for save location, select the root folder where the file or folder is located.
Once added, your client should do a recheck of the files and start seeding automatically.

For detailed guide please click here.
  • How can I request for a reseed? New
▶ Click on the torrent that you want to request for reseed.

▶ There should be a button like this:

This button only appears when the 'Last activity' of that torrent is more than 72 hours.

If you are still unable to see that option make sure that your userclass allows you to request re-seed.
  • I re-downloaded .torrent file to seed but it's showing as stalled
This happens when you choose the wrong directory when re-adding the torrent.
Remove the torrent from the list and re-add it.
Make sure you're selecting the root folder and not the torrent folder itself.
  • I just uploaded a torrent but it was not added to my upload credit.
Merely uploading any torrent will not add it to your total upload amount. You have to seed the uploaded torrent.
If someone downloads it, the amount of data that has been uploaded from your client will be added to your total upload amount.
  • What is auto approval and how to get it?
TorrentBD always strives to maintain quality.
In order to do that, all uploads go through a rigorous checking process before they make it into our index.

However we have an exception for regular uploaders, that is their torrents get approved automatically!

Users from any class may get an auto-approval facility.
However, currently, Elite and above ranks get auto-approval upon redeeming such rank.
Power users may get auto approval after successfully uploading 30 torrents.
Members and newbies may also get it if they keep uploading good contents consistently!

Note: Never ask any staff member for auto-approval. If they see you're worthy, you'll get it in no time!

Auto approval is a privilege, not a right! If you're not following the rules properly it can be taken away at any time!
  • Why is it taking too much time to get approval of my torrent?
First of all, have patience. If your torrent has not been approved yet, all the other torrents are also in a similar situation.

If you have made corrections to your torrent make sure that you have hit the recheck button so staff can recheck your torrent.
If you haven't made any corrections then the torrent will never be approved!

Do not create support tickets or contact any staff for approval through any means.

If your torrent remains unchecked for 24 hours or more open a support ticket.
  • What does seedbox mean?
A seedbox is a high-speed server for downloading and seeding of torrent files.
  • How to get seedbox option when uploading torrent?
You'll need to upload at least 20 torrents for that option to be visible.

Note: Do not tick that unless you're seeding from a seedbox. It's just an indicator that you're seeding from a seedbox.
